Flint, Michigan
This is my town; Flint is a small, desolate midwestern city of 100,000, surrounded by rural farmland and a broken industrial economy. During the harsh winter, Flint is one of the more gloomy small cities one can come across. I grew up here and has rarely left the area for any extended period of time. In this town resides a very peculiar family, the Dunwich Family. The Flint Public Library is where I have worked for the past decade. Not many visitors come here to rent out any books. The library is mostly filled with Flint’s large homeless population, escaping the lethal cold or attempting to bypass the website filters on the institute’s four 98’ Macintosh computers. The countless cats that live here, give the air a pungent smell of kitty litter mixed with old leather and body odor. The sewer tunnel is the large and elaborate sewer system is where the Dunwich family is secretly raising the creature of unknown abomination. My house is has been my home all my life it is my childhood home. It is full of leaky pipes and poor insulation, it is a one story house but all of this is typical in Flint.
Dunwich Family
I have been watching this family for a while. This family is very odd and there is something strange going on in that house of theirs. I am determind to find out what I can about that family. A son who grows to fast he has no father that we all know of and a very strange mother.
Wilbert Dunwich
Wilbert is the son of Nina Dunwich, but there is something abnormal about him. He is just a child but to the towns disbeliefe he already appears almost 7 feet tall. Okay maybe I could be exaggerating a little but still he’s growing too much too fast. How does a child grow to be that big that fast? I can’t help but notice as I see him everyday since he has been the paperboy in my area for the last few years. I just cant help but think that there is something really odd about him and his whole family. There is something going on in that house that they dont want anyone to know about.
Nina Dunwich
Nina Dunwich the daughter of Grampy Dunwich is a very odd person herself. She is a hunchback albino with red eyes. Not that to many people would know all that much about her since she rarely leaves the house. All she ever seen wearing anyway is the same old baggy shirt possible a hockey jersey it’s so worn out it is hard to tell. Though she has a son, Wilbert, nobody knows who the father is. From what Frank and Warren has told me there may have been an incestual relationship between her and Grampy. As odd as that family is this would not surprise me at all. Even though I am not surprised I know I cant take to much stock in it as this is coming from a homeless bum and a high school drop out. This will require more information.
Grampy Dunwich
Grampy is known for his work as a handyman around town. He is known as the towns freelance carpenter I can’t confirm if he’s good at it though. Anytime someone needs something built or fixed they seem to go to him. It is thought that his family is known for incest due to all of the infirmities throughout the family members. It is hard to know anything about Grampy or the family, as he is extremely secretive as well as overly protective of his family. Do not and I repeat do not trespass on his property or he will shoot, well that is what Frank has told me. There is some weird creature in the sewer beneath his house and he has become obsessed with raising it. This has me worried. This creature could be dangerous and he has decided to keep it alive and raise it. Could this creature be something he created or did he just discover it and then decided to raise it? I must find out.
Sewer Creature
This creature lives in the sewer beneath the old Dunwich house. From what Frank and Warren claim to have seen is that this is an aweful looking creature and that it appears extremely dangerous. Though nobody knows all that much for sure. All many people can really say is that Grampy Dunwich has been seen going back to the house with loads of fried chicken and other fast food way more then we know that one family could possibly eat even Wilbert. He roams free from time to time being released through the sewer. He can cause so much destruction and harm. Both Warren and Frank have said on separate occasions that the smell of this horrific creature is as if we let all of the garbage from the whole town pile up for a year and let it sit in the sun then roll all in it. The smell is so bad that you don’t have to see him to know he is around and that you better run before he claws you to death. Warren speculates that this creature will even eat you if he isn’t fed enough. This would explain why Grampy Dunwich is always stocking up more then his family would need for food.The sounds that come out of this creature are as if he is in enormous amounts of pain or angry or even both.
Warren “The Professor” Pilaf
Warren is one of the local bums that seems to seek refuge at the library during the brutal winters here. “The Professor”, as the people around here call him is known amongst the homeless community. Warren claims to have been a professor of “useless languages” at Detroit University. I’m still not sure what that is suppose to mean. Warren has claimed to hear the moans of this sewer creature emanating from the sewers and possibly around town. Though I do not know how much stock can be taken from this. After all he is just a mental homeless bum. He comes to me daily in the library with the sounds he hears coming from the sewer. He says how they sound dreadful and that he feels based on the sounds he hears that this creature is monstrously huge. He suspects that it could tear a person from limb to limb without any problems. While the town’s people do call him The Professor a brain he is not. That being said I usually don’t take much stock in what he has to say most of the time.
Young Frank
Young Frank is a 21-year-old high school drop out that spends his time skating around town and pretty much just being a loser. His favorite skate spots appear to be the stairs and parking lot of the Flint Public Library, which I prefer him not to. Frank seems to be knowledgeable about town gossip and is able to give me the inside scoop about the Dunwich’s. Though I question how much I can trust of what he says. He’s just some skater kid high school drop out and its just gossip. How much can really be true? He could just be making it up to get some attention. I will be cautious as to what I believe.
Julie - My Mother
Difficult to please, my mother constantly worries about my career path and nags me about moving them down south. As I become more involved in the Dunwich mystery, she urges me to forget about that nonsense and think about finding a better paying job since she works two jobs of her own or even a girlfriend. She’s a caring mother to me, but she thinks it’s time I move out of the house and cuts the paranormal baloney. After all what 33-year-old guy wants to still live at home with his mother? I don’t know why she doesn’t get that I don’t want the things that she wants me to have. I’m content with my life.
